The Department of Education (DepEd) officially declared May 28 – June 2, 2018 as the proper implementation of Brigada Eskwela 2018 with the theme: “Pagkakaisa Para sa Handa, Ligtas at Matatag na Paaralan Tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan”. This was done in order to encourage the government and private sectors to mark the date so that they would be able to join the school activity like repairs, maintenance and orientation.
And to encourage the public to join with the program, the Schools Division of Balanga City in cooperation with the City Government launched its annual national schools maintenance week, popularly known as Brigada Eskwela Program last May 28, 2018. The official kick-off ceremony was held at the Balanga Elementary School at 6:30 AM with the route of the caravan from plaza to BES.
The program was started with a singing of Philippine National Anthem followed with a prayer who was led by Mrs. Elena C. Almario, an EPS in Filipino. The roll call was given by Mr. Romy S. Bascarra, an EPS in EPP where he requested every school to do an action that can be usually done during brigada eskwela while the music was playing.
Dr. Jennifer de Guzman, a BES principal, joyfully welcomed the participants. The City Mayor of Balanga City, Hon. Francis Anthony S. Garcia who was present on the event provided a very fruitful message as he also committed himself to the responsibility in order attain the successful education outcomes of the children.
Afterwards, Dr. Carolina S. Violeta, a schools division superintendent, concisely discussed the useful effect of having bragada eskwela activities before the opening of classes.
The Division BE/ASP Coordinator and Senior Education Program Specialist, Mrs. Leticia E. Eugenio, briefly explained the proper implementation of Brigada Eskwela as she encouraged everybody to participate in order to achieve the main objective successfully.
The distribution of cleaning and painting materials were headed by City Mayor Francis Anthony S. Garcia and City Administrator Rodolfo H. de Mesa.
The orientation on “Wash in School (WinS)” and “Schools’ Safety Preparedness” were also included in the program.
Hence, the advocacy to build up awareness and to generate support from education stakeholders which is necessary for the successful implementation of this event were extended by the DepEd personnel, school heads, teachers and government employees.
