Learning how to be a master of teaching is quite a unique privilege.  It is a really good overview of not just the theory behind teaching but what it is like to be a teacher out there in the classroom.

A master teacher is a teacher who has real flair, enthusiasm and passion for what they’re doing. It’s the kind of teacher pupils remember and it’s very difficult to describe one type of person because, of course, they vary and are very individualistic.

But we think we’ve captured some of the qualities of a really excellent practitioner. The standards in the past were complex, unwieldy and difficult to make sense of. What the education administration can do is to make them clear and easy to understand and straightforward, so that teachers and head teachers are able to know what excellent teaching looks like.

Having master teachers will really raise standards because it is something all teachers can aspire to. It may not be attainable for all teachers, but certainly they can start to model their practice on the tandard set by the department.

How do we nurture great students, those kinds of students who are engaged, eager to learn, and ready to achieve. We believe the answer to that question is to train great teachers. Highly qualified individuals, ready to meet society’s demand for educators who go above and beyond merely teaching and actually engage.

A master teacher can also be a great mentor especially for the novice. All along the way, you can learn about maybe why things are the way they are and how best you can go about changing them. It’s about being fearless when you’re a new teacher and diving in and making the best of it so that all students in your care can be successful. A master teacher can guide you with that.
