Now more than ever, technology has a significant impact on both life and living; as a result, life as we know would be difficult to imagine in the absence of technology. This statement simply suggests that technology cannot be taken for granted because it has successfully incorporated itself into the majority, if not all, of human activities, especially in education. One of the most significant effects of technology has been the transformation of communication. As a result, it is possible to assert that technology has “profoundly shaped our culture.”
Education is unquestionably one area where technology has had a significant impact. It was stated that technology has a significant impact on the field of education. It spawned online education, which is slowly but surely becoming the standard amidst pandemic. Furthermore, it is argued that online teaching has changed education by allowing for hitherto unimaginable transnational education.
The notion that education is a process that necessitates physical presence in a single location is challenged by online teaching. It has become a reality, and virtually a normal practice, for individuals all over the world separated by time and location to meet online, be taught, and learn thanks to technology advancements. As a result, it may be claimed that online courses offer a level of flexibility that appeals to students who are unable to physically attend regular classrooms for various reasons. As a result, it’s no surprise that this type of education has grown in popularity and has been requested by students at colleges and universities.
These assertions reflect one of two things: either there is a constant trend toward including online teaching as a means of delivery or there is a movement in choice for teaching platforms. Whatever the case may be, the fact remains that online instruction is here to stay. In reality, the number of schools adopting this technique of instruction in the teaching of numerous disciplines has increased dramatically. Apart from learners’ apparent preference for off-campus education through online schooling, globalization is the driving force behind this current practice.
People who didn’t have time to attend conventional classes were offered online schooling in past years. However, the pandemic’s emergence, the infamous Covid19, has changed everything. When conditions changed, face-to-face training became obsolete, and online education became not only an option, but the only practical option.
Educators were required to digitize materials and develop digital contents. Teachers were pressed to adapt to a digitally-rich environment in the hopes of continuing to educate the young, but they did so without considering their technological competence, which is a requirement for being able to perform effectively as online instructors and a key variable integrated in the teaching and learning process.
Furthermore, this situation presents itself as a promising research field for the study of educators’ attitudes about virtual instruction. Because attitude is a determinant of decision, action, and behavior, it is an important factor to consider. As a result, even if teachers are given instructions, their attitude will play a large role in their compliance or noncompliance with policies.
This is the situation now. A virtual challenge to accept in face to face.
