Now that we are in the K to 12 Curriculum, we need to further enhance our teaching abilities in order to attain quality and better education for our learners since they deserve to have the best for their bright future.

Though, we are employing the new curriculum, we still need to recall the time-tested teaching strategies and eventually have them be innovated for creative learning. These time-tested methods should be internalized by new teachers and be enriched by those who are already in the field. To wit:

  1. Cooperative learning
  2. Brainstorming
  3. Questioning using HOTS
  4. Role Playing
  5. Film Showing

Cooperative learning is a strategy wherein all the members of the group actively talk to each other and dynamically discuss and interact with each other’s notions, viewpoints and inferences on a particular subject matter. In this strategy, the students are being developed to be more open, cooperative and confident.  Furthermore, this leads the learner to work well with the members of the group in attaining a common goal.

This is an independent way of expressing oneself but the purpose is to collaborate ideas for better result. In brainstorming, the individual is being given a chance to be more articulate on what he thinks is the best idea. Moreover, this strategy makes the person soar high since it elevates the mind and stimulates the student to further share interest on the given topic.

The art of questioning is one strategy that develops the critical thinking ability of a student. Through questions, more queries are clarified and answered.  Questioning is much supported with the Higher Order Thinking Skills. Through HOTS, the students’ intellectual prowess are being empowered and their mental abilities are going to greater heights.

Though, it is conventional, role playing is one strategy which artistically train the students to perform roles which are of great value and importance.  Through role playing, the students are zestfully executing various dramatic tasks which enrich their experiences as learning agents.

Since we are living in the digital world, the students love to watch films most especially if they are perfected by computers.  Before, film showing is using basic mechanism but now the presence of computer-generated movies are more appealing and catchy.

As time goes by, new things are being introduced but we still have to apply the time-tested strategies to enhance learning.
