TIPS FOR TEACHERS ON DELIVERING A SUCCESSFUL PRESENTATION

According to Pythagoras, a famous Greek philosopher, “Rest satisfied with doing well, and leaves others to talk of you as they please”. Truly, in doing anything with satisfaction, great deal of joy will come. If you have the chance, do the best of your ability in everything you do and never mind the negativists.            …

Relating this to speech delivery, a teacher may deliver or present a presentation in any related topic in education once or twice in her life. He/she must cherish this opportunity that may make or break his/her opportunity in the organization. These topics may range from simple classroom management or highly technical subject matter for instance in K to 12 Program or even topics that may put you as a motivational or inspirational speaker.

According to Sta. Ines, author of the topics “How to deliver successful Presentation” there are reasons why you may be tapped to present in front of co-workers, education officials and other guests.

  1. You are fluent in giving information. You can describe a process, person, place or event. You may be good in delivering and sharing personal experiences. You can classify concepts, materials or ideas or you may be asked to present individual accomplishments.
  2. You may explain difficult situations, to acknowledge that a problem exists so that a solution may be reach by pointing out the importance of the problem, locating and precisely defining the problem and finding possible root causes of the problems.
  3. You may be asked to inform-share knowledge and ideas, to add to already existing facts and ideas, to increase wisdom, to strengthen judgment, to enhance way of looking at a situation through expositional device.
  4. You may deliver a presentation to influence, to convince or not of the truth or falsity of an idea or attitude to entice or tempt to catch interest through narrative, dramatic and descriptive devices.
  5. A teacher may ask to deliver, to encourage others, to act on something or follow a given course of action.

In presenting, teachers must be reminded of the 3C’s in achieving the objectives of the presentation:

  1. Clarity – the meaning of what you are trying to say must be clear.
  2. Concise – you must be concise of the facts you are presenting.
  3. Crisp – the speaker must be crisp in telling directly what you want to be known.

Following the above reminders, will more or less help a neophyte presenter.
