There are lot of things parents can do to help children welcome the school with eagerness and enthusiasm. But the question is Is your child ready to start schooling? Is there really a right age for children to start entering in kindergarten? The ideal age actually depends on how ready the child is. Below are some tips that you should consider if your child is really ready to enter school.
- Socialization with others.
Observe your child on how he interacts with both adults and children. If your child has had previous experiences with playdates or social interactions with other children ,or has been exposed to adults aside from you and your husband, then a school environment may be a breeze.
- Check the personality of your child.
Does he show interest in books and learning materials? If you see these signs to your child, well it is a good sign. While at home, observe if he is able to follow simple instructions, stick to a routine, or even sit for a short period of time. This is crucial because these are things that he will have to do while in school.
- Check his fine and Motor Skills.
Find out his level of motor development . Fine motor skills are something a child can learn while in school but it is important that he is able to move around on his own and not stumble. Being in school with several children may be dangerous if your child is still learning how to run around.
After carefully assessing your child, you can now determine if he is ready or not. If you think he is ,then by all means take him to a kindergarten. But if you find that he may not be ready, start preparing your child . Act as if you’re his teacher and create a home full of learning opportunities. Invite his playmates to come along and be a teacher to them.
