Reading is fun. Reading is cool. And the love of it begins at home not in school. Everyone believes reading should begin in infancy and extent throughout life. There is no age limit where reading should stop. Either reading together aloud or in chorus or silent reading, create an atmosphere where children are likely to love books. Here are some tips on how to develop your child’s love for reading.

1. Expose them to as many reading materials as possible- try not to limit their reading list- cartoons, sports magazine, story books,  comics and other colorful and interesting books.
2. Serve as a role model- lead by example. Show how much you love reading a book.Children’s interest in reading heightens everytime they see how enjoyable the activity is to you.
3. Encourage children to read stories- classic fairy tales, local Filipino children’s book teach values that will prove beneficial to them. Story books do great wonders for the child’s imagination.
4. Visit libraries and bookstores- a simple visit may mean your children heightened fascination with books.
5. Be patient and supportive- bear in mind that children’s love for reading does not happen instantly. Be patient and supportive. Time will come they eventually learn to love reading.
