Teachers lose control of their classrooms when pupils misbehave. As a result, the learning environment suffers. Classroom management needs to be consistent and strong for a teacher to be successful. The following are tips on how you can make changes to get the situation under control if your pupils consistently misbehave.

1. Change seats. Identify the pupils who consistently misbehave. Move these students away from one another and use quiet, behaved students to block them from one another. It is also advisable to move a disruptive pupil in front of the classroom where you can keep a close eye on him.

2. Contact Parents. Calling home can work to your advantage. When a pupil is disruptive, call the parents and explain the negative behavior. Parents would appreciate your concern to their children. Many pupils will curb their misbehavior because they do not want you to talk to their parents.

3. Keep them busy. Disruptions will happen if the pupils are given so much free time. Teachers should keep them busy. They should keep the class moving with various activities.

4. Be consistent. A teacher should establish clear rules and enforce them fairly. She may introduce some new rules if the class consistently misbehaves. Once she has established a rule to get control, she should follow through with it. Pupils respond to teachers who are fair and firm. On the other hand, they take advantage of the teachers who they see as weak and inconsistent.
