“Every teacher shall uphold the highest possible standards of quality education, shall make the best preparation for career of teaching, shall be at his best at all times in the practice of his profession.”(Sec.2 of Article IV of the Code of Ethics of Professional Teachers)
Being a teacher is very challenging because he or she is often confronted with so many apprehensions on how to maintain a high standard in the practice of his or her profession. Moreover, in this fast changing world, the so-callednoblest career has been facing a more demandingenvironment which is full of challenging and complex tasks.
Nowadays, teachers no longer work as lecturers. They are facilitators who set goals and organize the learning process appositely. They provide pupils information and show how to tackle and discuss them. Before they used to handle books and chalks in teaching their students. Today, teachers need to know how to navigate technology. They should learn how to use computers in executing their lesson as well as in doing their other job-related activities. Most importantly, teachers at present time and the coming years should serve as supporters rather than educators in the learning process. They must teach their students to learn how to learn. They need to guide their students how to gain information and how to select and use them properly.
The modern world really asks teachers for great demands. New responsibilities and more complicated tasks await them. Teachers should act as versatile individuals who can make right decisions and cope with the stress of the complex world in the future ahead of them.
