With the speed of information transfer nowadays, it is quite hard to distinguish factual news from a fake one. The perplexity of the matter is now kept hanging “on what is right or wrong and which is true or false.” This dilemma also weaves a thread of querries not only for learners but also for the learned. For us to put proper disclosure on available information, we have to establish what is right and true beneath the surface, rather than taking a wild guess.
Truthful information is very helpful to people from different walks of life. It is the core of human awareness that leads many in making prudent decisions. They are decisions that can make or break a plan. Likewise, the kind of information we gather and put into application can also be the main factor that will spell success or failure in our endeavors.
The proliferation of fake information if not mitigated can bring damage to peace, order, systems, processes, and worst our lives. Therefore the situation can be a timely signal for everyone to take extra care in accepting any kind of data. Many have fallen prey in believing that they have the truth in their hands, not until the final result manifests the contrary.
Both the learner and the learned must therefore be more objective in gathering information materials which may be referred to as basis to knowledge enhancement. The opportunity in heeding to prudent studies to gain knowledge has now shifted into gaining wisdom from it. That is, having a mindset that will qualify a truth from a lie.
In process, attending a class in school can be more challenging and exhilarating. As the learning process becomes more investigative, it becomes developmental. Through a series of progression, it will be more fulfilling to discover that the gain of knowledge can lead to the accumulation of wisdom. For those who are determined to really learn more, study time can be a new channel of discovery and greater learning.
With the present trend, educators are taking the right course in evaluating the veracity of information materials that are being used as tools for teaching in the K to 12 Curriculum. The vast collection of informative materials can be tested when we have the knowledge on the credibility of source where they emanate.
It is to say that honesty is still the better policy when we talk about the diligent way we gather and source our information in the process of gaining knowledge. Being honest in what we deliver speaks the greater part of honesty as we purposed it to be. People will believe, why not? But let us always make it a point to remember that at the very middle of the word believe is the “lie” which in prudence must never manifest in the information exchange we are dealing with everyday.
