Despite being implemented in June 2016, practical and typical Filipinos are now crying and shouting as they are against the newly-created program by the Department of Education (DepEd) which is known as the K to 12 curriculum, adding two more years in high school.

In preparation for the Filipino youth who are envisioned to be globally competitive through the said curriculum, the educational sectors as well as the government pushed their advocacy in arming young people the skills which they could use in stepping up a higher level of challenges in the near future.

There’s no need for the parents to create a scenario since they won’t bag all the expenses of their children for the government has its own voucher system allotting amount for each student as a help in their studies. As explained by the Department of Education, the Voucher Program is intended for Grade 10 (Junior High School) completers who wish to pursue Senior High School (SHS) education in non-DepEd Schools such as Private High Schools, Colleges, and Universities; Local Universities and Colleges (LUC); State Universities and Colleges (SUCs); and Technical and Vocational Schools, starting SY 2016-2017. Through the Voucher Program, students and their families are able to exercise greater choice in deciding the Senior High School program that is most relevant to their needs and career goals. The voucher enables students to claim a “discount” or a deduction from the cost of tuition and other fees charged by a non-DepEd SHS where he or she will enroll. The voucher subsidy is not given to students directly in the form of cash but will be disbursed by DepEd to the non-DepEd SHS where he or she enrolls.

How can one apply for a voucher program?Be reminded that only Grade 10 completers from private Junior High School who are non-ESC (Education Service Contracting) grantees need to apply in order to avail the Senior High School Voucher Program. Take note that application does not translate to automatic approval. Applications will be subject to a review and approval process. To apply you may fill out and download the forms and confirmation slip from Online Voucher Application Portal (OVAP): http://ovap.deped.gov.ph.

With that of the governments’ initiative, no one should ever done to worry about this matter because as far as we know, what we need is to keep our children ready considering that it’s a higher degree of studying. They will definitely need your entire support not just financially but of course morally.

We can infer that many are still not ready in studying in college thus, lots of students fail to pass board exams and were not able to apply their learnings yet. This is an unnerving truth considering the fact that the expenses we drop down amounted to big ones.

We always dream for the good future of our children, we always envision to something further than the reality so stop dreaming, cooperate now as we insinuate a different set of obstacles. Support the program and be able to comply for such and roughly a decade from now, we will rise and will compete globally without hesitation.
