Media plays a vital role in the education of the child. Generally, it develops his awareness on the world and its people.
Television, radio, internet, newspaper and magazines are the perfect examples of media that we have in our society. Directly and indirectly they contribute to the field of education and influence the lives of the learners.
Television is good if its utilization is for the purposes of entertainment and information. Having television in education will link the learner to the news about the world and with the significant figures who will make history.
Radio is another form of media that can be educational. Having its essence, radio creates awareness in all aspects of life and of society. With radio in education, the people most especially the young generation will learn to appreciate the value of life and of people.
Newspaper and magazines have become parts of man’s everyday living. Their educational value is flourishing. From their simple articles, they will connect man to the people, to the society and to the entire world as well.
Internet or social media is said to be the most influential tool of communication in the present generation. It also provides a strong impact to the field of education.
Though it is being criticized due to its effects on the way students produce and retain information but to use it in order to achieve education would be much rewarding.
Social media could be beneficial to the field of education if it will serve as a connection to communicate, engage and interact with people in order to learn. Inquiries on knowledge and skills will be easily answered if this technological medium will be used.
Creating links is better if the wonders of social media will be the channel of communication. In this way, sharing of information and ideas will be much accessible.
Media will be in one with education as long as the purpose is for good which is to search, acquire and share information for the benefit of learning.
