An effective teacher employs a variety of teaching strategies that will set the mood for classroom mind-activities. The teacher must not limit his strategies to chalk talk or lectures. He should device a way wherein students can engage in wholesome activities that will not only arouse their interest, but tap whatever potential they have. Various activities may challenge students to think critically and creatively, thus participation is encouraged.

To achieve learning, teacher made use different instructional materials for them to deliver their lesson accordingly. The teacher should always bear in mind, that every student is unique. Therefore, varieties of instructional materials, activities and instructions are really a must!

What are the things that we have to consider in making instructional materials? First is the human factor-it tells about the teacher and the learner. We should consider individual differences because every learner has his/her preferences for learning. Some prefer by observing and we call as visual learners. Some prefer by listening and we call them aural learners. Another factor to be considered is the number of learners. Another point of consideration is for the teacher to select medium of media which is suited to the group size. For the following valid reasons: like poor vision, color blindness, dyslexia etc. must be considered too.

Good and effective instructional materials increases student’s motivation, self-esteem, self-confidence and academic achievement. Also, it promotes higher level thinking skills. It provides students with unique opportunities to apply skills and talents and to interact with others in a non-threatening environment.

            In closing although preparation of instructional materials are quite tiring and time consuming, as a dedicated teacher nothing is impossible and beyond boundaries!
