The pandemic highlighted the almost forsaken significance of maintaining mental health in its years of ravage around the globe. Over the year, psychological clashes strive silently to fill the void in one’s mind and the lack of tangible programs.
Mental health embodies one’s holistic health. It is not finite to the psychological aspect alone but also comprised of emotional, physical, spiritual, and social well-being. Thus, it governs the capability to make decisions, empathize, and handle stress.
Each year psychiatric illnesses affect 19% of the adult population, 46% of teenagers, and 13% of children contributing to increased medical expenses mediocre academic and workstead performances. The most disturbing of all consequences are suicidal attempts and even execution.
Aside from the intellect’s incessant silent collision per se, there is a grander substantial obstacle in mental health such as scarcity in support, stigma, lack of facilities, lesser policies, and programs.
“There is no health without mental health,” World Health Organization stated in their mental health awareness promotion. Countering these drawbacks is as much as necessary. The organization has recommended whole-of-government and whole-of-society responses to attend to this health issue.
The promotion includes strengthening the policy environment, strategic communication to build networks, stakeholder engagement, enhanced mental health literacy, and behavior changes.
Moreover, mental health programs, early childhood interventions, social support, community engagement, women empowerment, anti-discrimination programs, and other interventions address the social determinants of mental health.
This aspect of health strives for awareness and compassion. Endeavors to achieve quality health care, effective treatments, and research to identify and improvise more remedies catering to all mental disorders. There is a vital necessity to overcome psychological clashes. The battle of an individual is a battle for all. Mental health affects the overall human functions, which considerably contributes to the community. Winning over these silent disputes equates to victor other clashes.
