They are key to building a good vocabulary, How strong is your vocabulary ? A solid vocabulary is crucial for understanding or comorehending written and spoken language. It is never too late to build a good, strong vocabulary, and the process of building one in fun!
The English language can be a very hard language to learn. Every year there are more and more English Languge learners (ELL’s) working diligently to master the English language. Our schools are seeing an increase in ESL (English as a Second Language) students.
If you do a search of #English on Twitter, you will see a large amount of tweets from folks begging someone to help them learn English. They want to improve their vocabulary and be able to write, understand, and speak English fluently.
Young children who are taught English as their primary language grow up knowing how to speak English, English, but they still have to build their vocabulary. They accomplish this by listening to others, reading, books playing English language Games, identifying synonyms and antonyms, learning root words and so forth.
Having a good vocabulary reflects on good reading comprehension. The more vocabulary words a student knows, the better they are able to comprehend what they are reading. Growing your vocabulary is a process that never really ends. Just because a student graduates from high school does not mean they have mastered all the vocabulary skills they will ever need. Just the opposite, they should focus on continuing to grow their vocabulary. Whether a person is a student or not, learning new words and their meanings is profitable.
