Most of the public elementary and secondary schools are now preparing for learning facilities as the National Learning Camp is expecting to start in July. This program is in great help to students to prepare themselves for the following academic school year. As of this month of May, Bataan National High School have 3 volunteered teachers from Mathematics, English and Science Department and is continuously gathering and increasing the number of student participants from different programs including SPA, STVEP, K-12, SPFL and STE program.

Many might be asking what NLC is, National Learning Camp is a voluntary three to five-week learning recovery program designed not only to overcome learning gap, but also to provide advanced studies depending on the needs of students in public elementary and secondary schools. The main goal of the program is to foster deeper understanding of the subject matter, promote collaboration and practice critical thinking skills as it was expected to have hands-on workshops, lectures, group discussions, team-building activities, and sometimes outdoor adventures, depending on the theme of the camp.

The program is under the implementation of MATATAG Curriculum. It was based on the specific needs of the learners in Mathematics, English and Science subjects and they shall be enrolled in one of the three Camps: Enhancement Camp, Consolidation Camp intervention Camp.

Enhancement Camp. It consists of advanced group; these students have earned a general average grade of 85-100. They shall attend the 3-week NLC program to take advanced studies. And since it is an enhancement program, there is no need for grades but instead, teachers assigned must give general feedback and give certificate of completion to the students.

Consolidation camp which consists of average students these students have earned a general average grade of 76-84. This group will attend the 5-week NLC program to enhance more their leaning capabilities towards the 3 major subjects.

Intervention Camp consisting of students with 75 and below of their general average. Note that the Intervention and Remediation Camp are the only graded group.

As part of preparation to this program, selected teachers from Bataan National High School conducted 3-day seminar about the “Capacity Building in the Implementation of the National Learning Camp” last November 2023 headed by SDS Roland M. Fronda, our ASDS Ilynne SJ Samonte, and of the rest of the Education Supervisors of Schools Division of Balanga City. Since this is the first time Bataan National High School will be joining to this program, teachers and students were very excited what to learn during under this camp. It is also a great opportunity for teachers to enhance their teaching skills and knowledge on how to provide the best quality of learnings to student participants. Let us wait and see for the success of this
