Taking a morning walk can be fun and amusing. It is a good form of exercise both for the body and the mind. Along the course of walking, one can find it exhilarating burning the extra calories to make one fit. At the same time, it can be more than amusing with the discoveries along the course.
During a casual stroll, as one passes along the facades of residential houses, apartments, business and government establishments, construction sites and even some vacant lots the prying eyes will surely notice the signages posted on them.
At the gate of one government establishment a three-liner signage reads like this, “ VISITORS, Registered to the Guard, BEFORE ENTRY.” One may wonder as to why it has been there for months.
In a junction where a bridge is under construction a signage with lights in toe says, “ MEN OUT WORK”, sending out a clear message that there is an impending danger in the area.
Going along the way, at the gate of an apartment a painted sign warns people to, “ BEWEAR OF DOGS.” The second line of thinking will probably be about the ticks and the fleas.
Day in and day out, new signages are being posted everywhere depending on their necessity and the purpose of their intent. Words are powerful instruments of information, but if not used properly they can send wrong signals leading to misdirection.
It will not get any better should one day the morning stroller will see a refreshing one that will quench thirst like, “ EYES FOR SALE.”
