A child is special in his/her own way. No matter how young they may be, they are still very important members of our society who will soon become active members and even members of the work force for the nation’s advancement and progress.

However, many people say that it is very complex to tame a child and to make them behave the way they are ideally expected to do so.

It is important to note children are naturally active and with diverse personality that dealing with them would really take so much effort, time and even a truckload of patience.

Here are some ways on how to “tame” children at school.

  1. Treat them like young adults – children are very smart, they understand even if we think they don’t.
  2. Talk to them like young adults – it will not be helpful to “baby talk” them. Talk to them in simple and straight words.
  3. Give them enough activities to keep them busy. Manipulative activities are more advisable.
  4. Ask them to do small errands to make them learn “responsibility” no matter how simple or small the task may be,
  5. Allow some time to make mistakes, get a little hurt and some little bruises here and there to make them stronger – not just physically but also mentally and emotionally.
  6. Allow them to work in groups to give them the chance to socialize.
  7. Show them how to do things; do not just tell them.
  8. Constantly engage them to talk and speak to someone older to help them in developing their speech and communication.
  9. Balance the use of “carrot and stick” in giving rewards and punishment.
  10. Treat them the way you would treat older people – with respect and human consideration.
