Amidst the eminent battle in our live teachers will always be the key factor to direct the path of the future generations. Poverty which always the reason for committing mistakes and surfing into the world sins play as fake bait to give love in return instead f discipline. But of course teachers know best. The human molders can detect and diagnose what remedy can give to his patients, the children. It doesn’t mean that teachers must use their iron hands to make the crooked minds of the youth open in accepting changes that will lead them to the path of righteousness.
Would you believe that our pupils believe in what we are saying and accepting the facts that we are laying on their tables rather than truth and advise their parents or guardian offer unto them. Yes, we are their role models. The way we talk the way we dress, the way we treat other people, the way we accept challenges and defeats and even the way we give importance to the essence of life. Teachers are all human who can commit mistakes but it depends upon the situation and the number of times we commit the same mistakes. The eyes of the youth are always on guard to know if what we are teaching are our real ways of living.
For almost two decades in my teaching profession, I can still remember how I learned from my grade one teacher the value of discipline. She always wanted us to listen attentively and behave well inside or outside the classroom. My grade two teacher, who also became my grade five teacher valued the importance of education and she’s fond of reading, that’s why I still love to do the same thing and it broadened my horizon. When I was grade three. I saw the love and care my teacher showed to her family. One of my teachers in grade four (my grade four teacher then was always pregnant, that’s she’s always on leave) was fair and just in treating her pupils. She always give chance to us to be with her in going to Balanga or eating in a restaurant. We have our daily schedule, and I have to show fairness to my pupils too as what she showed us then. I have a brilliant and artistic grade six teacher. He put into my mind that poverty is not a hindrance to success. He developed my hidden talents and made me believed in myself. Now that he’s gone I can still reminisce those values and his advise.
Now, how do we picture our selfinform pinoy of the children? Do you think they can remember us for the right deeds we have shared to influence their own lives or they will remember us for worst things we have done unto them? It’s not too late. Every day is a blessing from God to take the opportunity for improvements and changes. How do you want remembered a curse unto them or a blessing? Well the honest answer you can give is the outspoken words from your pupils.
