Teaching someone in a sense can be challenging .On the other hand learning can be more difficult. If you are a teacher trying to enhance your skills, a parent raising you child to build character, or mentor trying to help someone improve their life, look at these tips on what makes an effective teacher.
The number one rule is you should have a genuine feeling of helpfulness. You need the mindset that you want to make a difference in a life. An effective teacher will instill principles and character that will remain with them for a lifetime.
Signs that you have been effective are when you students keep in touch with you throughout the years. Some communicate with their second grade teachers even though college. If you have experienced this, you have been effective. Another asset is patience. Being patient and taking the time, going the extra smile to do all that you can to help the person understand is what counts.
Sometimes, you have to find different ways to paint a picture to teach someone. If you can find versatile way to teach using nontraditional textbook methods, and find unique skills building developmental methods, this would be more effective.
Being effective also includes being supportive and motivational. Once your message is received or you see that a student is giving it all they have, really trying hard to conceptualize the idea you are teaching, reward them with kind words. Encourage them to keep on. Let them know they are headed in a positive direction, making strides and that you are proud of them for their accomplishments to keep the momentum going. This is what makes a effective teacher who will be achieve positive results and be in memories for lifetime.
