What makes a great kindergarten teacher? Kindergarten is a pivotal year in child’s academic development, and consider as the first formal year of instruction. Good teachers are crucial for every grade level, but the kindergarten teacher will set the tone for child’s opinions about school and learning in particular. A great and effective Kindergarten teacher will make every child comfortable in their learning environment and help them to learn what best suits child’s individual needs. Teaching in the early stage of child’s development demands a broad knowledge of the subject matter, curriculum and standards, need a lot of love, caring and a desire to make difference in the lives of young people. Aside from these the following will make a great kindergarten teacher.
Great Kindergarten teachers communicate frequently with the parents. They assessed the learning of every child, take note of every little progress, and reach parents through conferences or one on one meeting with them. Do not hesitate to write to parents about the characteristics concerning about the student.
Great Kindergarten teachers are masters of their subject matter. They exhibit a great knowledge about the topic they’re teaching. Spend a lot of time gaining new strategies and techniques about the lesson to make it more interesting and for better retention.
Great Kindergarten teachers build strong relationship with their students and parents. Aside from teaching different skills to their children, they also teaches the values and good qualities among their students and parents, they are open and make themselves available to communicate with the parents after school, these can make parents and students be more concern with each other.
Great Kindergarten teachers set high expectations for all students. They expect that all students can achieve their goals in their classroom. They don’t give up on underachievers and find ways on how they can inspire and motivate them.
Great Kindergarten teachers are prepared and organized. They go to their classrooms with their knowledge and methods about the topics they will teach. Well motivated by the goals that each of the children will gain knowledge and be enthusiastic all day.
Teaching is a noble profession that makes a teacher becomes noble. They are not only teaching but touch, inspire and change lives. It’s no wonder that it’s hard to find great kindergarten teachers, but having the desire to make a difference, this is one step ahead of finding one.
