At various times in our life, when crisis or personal tragedy comes, having a friend beside us can lift our spirits up. Friends play an important role in our life. A friend comes to our aid when we are in a bind and provide helpful advice and assistance in whatever way they can. They encourage us when we are sad and listen when we have problems.

It is normal for people to have a desire to fit in and be accepted by group. They build a circle of friends wherein they can spend much of their time.

But what really makes a true friend? There are varieties of friends: co-workers, social workers, schoolmates, and much more. Each type of friends is helpful in one way or the other. Co-workers could help solve problems and stress gain in the workplace. Friends from the community widen one’s prospective by introducing new people from different areas. Friends that grew up with would share the happiness and sadness one might has. Good friends should not be measured only base on the time spent together.

It is very difficult to have a definition of a good friend for everyone to agree upon. Since everyone has different personalities.  Someone can express his friendship through his willingness to give up something valuable to him for the one he regards as a true friend. However, it is also important for us to understand that it is possible that a friend can put us in danger. They may have presented themselves as true friends, but, in reality they were not. They can be very deceptive. These so-called friends will lead us to self-destruction. These kinds of friends will not encourage us to do what is good for us. What they are, in fact, will be the kind of influence they will try to wield.

So it is very important for us to recognize all the friends that we have because good friends are hard to find. Good friend means that one will not judge the others mistakes but help with the correction of the mistakes. A good friend listens to problems and lends useful advice to better their situation. Being a good friend means that no matter what happens one will stand next to their friend’s decisions and choices.

The person whom you count as a true friend will always have them without even trying to be so, it comes naturally to them and they are not swayed by the environmental and social considerations. You will value their opinions and thoughts, you will almost undoubtedly count on their support in the crisis hour, you will yell at them and they will simply stand and smile at you unperturbed. They will do you no harm and will protect you from the unknown in the hour of need. These are the friends who will expect nothing in return and for them the friendship will mean a lot and will go to any lengths to protect the identity of the friendship.

Support of a friend is one of the most important things that a friendship can offer. With good friends, one is able to have a more meaningful life.
