Olongapo City National High School proposed the implementation of the Strengthened Technical-Vocational Education Program (STVEP) rooted in Technology and Livelihood Education to support the delivery of the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum. The Special Program in Technical Vocational Education is centered on the development of learners’ technical skills in line with TESDA-prescribed training standards and ensures that learners not only learn life skills but also enable them to create small businesses through the integration of entrepreneurship.
According to the Schools Division Office of Olongapo City, the school is allowed to offer the following specializations under the Strengthened Technical Vocational Education Program (STVEP) for the school year 2023-2024: Commercial Cooking, Wellness Massage, Technical Drafting, and Electrical Installation and Maintenance with a minimum of twenty-five (25) students per session. Each specialized course includes a skills laboratory where learners can put their newly acquired knowledge into practical skills.
OCNHS will collaborate with the local industry for learners’ exposure and work experience while they are in junior high school. The competency-based curriculum gives learners the opportunity to get a National Certificate and/or a Certificate of Competency for their entry into higher learning, the field of work, or venture into entrepreneurship. Learners have two alternatives when it comes to choosing their field of specialization; it is determined by the two highest grades in the exploratory classes. Learners’ specializations must be chosen prior to admission. The program will utilize DepED Order No. 13, series of 2018 stating the Daily Time Allotment for Core Curriculum, Mandatory, and Specialized Subjects.
