A professional is usually thought of as someone with a college degree.  But it must be remembered that diplomas and titles do not make one a professional. A real professional, especially a teacher, should cultivate three attitudes and can be more professional than the principal or even the supervisor.

 

  1. a.The real professional teacher knows when the job really ends.  Some teachers have myopic view of theThese are the teachers who limit their effort to what is expected of them.  A professional teacher discern what the real output is and extend working hours to get it done.  These are the teachers who look for solutions when things do not work as outlined.

 

  1. b.The real professional teacher knows that extra work is an opportunity to learn.

 

  1. c.The real professional teacher separates duties from emotions.  A professional teacher does not factor in personal sentiments because if he does, he will never get the workA professional teacher doesn’t take things personally.  That leads to the nobility of the profession.  A professional teacher faces all challenges without negative thoughts and receives feedback on the basis of its merits, even though, emotionally, it stings.

 

It may be hard to find a real professional teacher.  But a teacher who genuinely cares for the profession, takes initiative, remains humble and trainable can be a real professional given the chance.
