As the end-of-year comes to its final curtain call, there are a lot of realizations that will certainly alight the kind of nobility, the teaching profession possesses. It’s not an easy battle, as we say, but the fruit of hard work through this pandemic times has shown the resiliency and effectiveness of teachers as they trudge the path of blended learning in order to achieve the mantra of DepEd’s basic quality education. Here’s a quick tour down the memory lane of 208 days for School Year 2021-2022. Are you ready?

A TEACHER as defined, is one whose occupation is to instruct. But beyond the instruction process was far more scrutinizing responsibility that covers the emotional, physical, and mental ability relied on their hands to widen student’s horizons for their future. To start, for me, T is for being trustworthy. Tons of specific information starting from the student’s correct data entry until their ability and mental prowess were designed under this. It is specifically understood that the grades downloaded and information transferred with regard to the student’s well-being were taken care of by the teacher. E is for empathy. This pandemic has tested the teacher’s ability to reach out and provide alternative ways to ensure the continuity of learning in the students despite the COVID-19 crisis. Teachers were the most empathic people known to ever exist as they will always find ways for learning to happen whatever it takes. A is not for Apple (just kidding!), it’s adequate. Their love for their job, dedication to their responsibilities, and assurance of assistance go a long, long way. They will even use their own money in spite of having a little left from their salary just to make things better for their students and the whole school community. C is for care. Once they hear that their students do not have the means to get their modules or submit it at school, they will be there to rescue them! Even if it means riding the boat or trudging a bumpy way up the mountain. That’s how teachers care. H is for hard work. Let me get that straight, very hardworking! These papers will definitely be done even before the submission is called for. Their lesson logs achieved until the very last part not to mention those extra assignments at school assigned to them. For the letter e, eager is the right term. Most teachers nowadays are studying because they crave higher education so they can be better as a teacher. The learning that they will get will be of substance as they transfer the knowledge to the students. Lastly, r is for radiant. Their positivity emanates joy and light to others. That is the very reason why they say that teachers affect a student for a lifetime. That statement will be agreed so by most people.

And now, to the world, they may be just teachers, but to their students, they will always be a hero. Here’s a written salute for these modern-day heroes who combat the pandemic with a pen and paper. You will always be a part of progress and nobility in anyone’s life. Just keep in mind that these are all… PARA SA BATA, PARA SA BAYAN!
