We are not Jenine Tugonon who can ramp along the runway with a cobra walk; we are not Kris Aquino who can take a spoonful of Tuna and earn millions out of it; neither are we Manny Pacquiao that with just a punch or two can already take away all your pains with Alaxan FR.

These are models, which are models by choice; models by profession and who are aware that people look at them with more enthusiasm and admiration.

Though in a different manner, teachers in classrooms; school administrators; guidance counsellors; librarians, custodians and other school personnel are somehow models, too.

And how did they become models?

Teachers and other school personnel tend to become models though they may not be fully aware of it. A lot of people tend to look at them more closely than they do for other professionals in many different fields.

This is primarily because school personalities are more exposed to the public than other professional who would normally finish the day inside the office or who would just be meeting with a particular set of people depending on the  field they work on.

Teachers, school administrators and other school personnel and officials have the tendency to deal with all kinds of people, in many different situations and in many different places.

As a result, school figures somehow become models of what the social standards dictate.

We can encourage pupils and the community positively or negatively. We can inspire or put people in despair; can either encourage or discourage; can either motivate or demoralize.

We may not know it but somehow, people make us examples – of what is good and bad. Let’s hope that it would always be for good! However, there are times, really, when no matter how much effort we exert, some people will still  easily judge and say a lot of things about us. We really cannot please everybody. People will always have something to say. People will always find a way to talk about us and say things about us.

With this, we are put on the spot, so we really have to be cautious and wary that there are eyes watching eyes, so we better behave in the best we can…. but are we kids who need to behave? Can’t we act and react the way other professionals do? Can’t we be like other people outside the school? Can’t we be like anyone and everyone else?

Sad fate is that, whether we like it or not, we tend to be models!
