The passage of time through 21st century saw educators undergoing scrutiny as being given reexamination.  Some even say that it is going through a paradigm shift.  And this certainly is true as evidenced by the 5th year implementation of the K to 12 Program..

Filipino teachers are included in these changes.  They are continuously undergoing different seminars and trainings on the implementation of Senior High School, especially teachers coming from the secondary and tertiary level to enhance and improve their skills and knowledge of the new curriculum.

A Filipino teacher is accustomed to the hardships of the profession.  The Filipino teacher has the capacity to overcome the adversity one can meet in being a teacher- the students, fellow teachers, parents, the community or other stakeholders.  He or she is indifferent to the appeal of material wealth   Yes, material things make life comfortable, but then, since they are material, they are just temporary. Still they are part and parcel of success- coming to teachers as they become more and more successful.  However, teachers should not be the end-all of life, they must concentrate more on the inner qualities that add life to the years they will have.

The Filipino teacher has the capacity to survive.  He/she is undaunted by the potential fears for his/her welfare and the welfare of his/her loved ones, the Filipino teacher has the capacity to achieve.

An effective Filipino teacher, strive for excellence.  He/she strives to be the best teacher.  He/she knows that excellence is not achieved overnight.  Excellence is not an end by itself, it is a process.  It is gained through a series of painstaking studies and hands-on insights and experiences.  It is intentional.  It calls for untiring commitments to explore, dare, dream, aspire create, move, innovate, learn and gain. There is no room for complacency in the House of the Brave.  Excellence commands passion to go an extra mile to see things through successful completion, and Filipino teachers know this.

Filipino teachers must aspire big for themselves-to go beyond their comfort zones and flex their muscles to dare more and achieve more.  They must broaden their horizons to realize their full potential.  If they excel, they will become the best person they can be.

As teachers run the race in the competitive world of teaching , this will greatly affect his/her life in the future.,  Teachers will reap tomorrow what they sow to parents and students.

Because of these potentials, Filipino teachers can be promoted to higher positions.  Teachers must remember what this Chinese proverb expresses” Sow a thought you reap an act.  Sow an act you reap a habit. Sow a habit, you reap a character.  Sow a character, you reap a destiny.”

Through this proverb, we must always put in our minds that as a teacher, we continuously touch and shape the lives of our students.
