Undeniably, science plays an immense role in everyone’s life particularly on the learner. Significantly, as happening in schools fromdetermining cures for diseases, to generating innovative technologies, to training us on how to think critically, science has become avital feature of modern society where we live.
Realistically, scientific discoveries can shape the way we view the world and can create an impact in our decisions and actions. The culture and lifestyle of people in a certain geographical location can be influenced by the developments, advancements and progress of science that are being taught in school and to a lot of people.
However, despite the fact that science informs our thoughts and behaviors, many people do not seem to place a high value on science. It is the responsibility of the educators specifically science teachers to spread the importance of science to all. The entire humanity must be informed of the advantages that science brings to the world.
In the school, science teachers must develop their students to develop a positive attitude on science. In addition, a positive attitude towards science may improve students’ academic performance. Science is a way of knowing and understanding through the application of reason, a creation of the mind based on actual observation to explain natural phenomena.
It is in the interest of the society, and the obligation of educators, to improve and enhance student’s attitude towardsscience, and to prepare the student to live in a highly advanced scientific and technological society.
Science teachers should teach the subject with high motivation so that the acquisition of knowledge and skills will be ardently and keenly acquired by the learners themselves with the supplement of instilling them the value of the subject.
In the current society, scientific discoveries and scientific thinking can greatly influence behaviors and the way we handle things whether in school or in real life situation. Science teachers must emphasize the potential value of blended instruction brought by science. It does not only give knowledge but also develops practical skills.
Science has undoubtedly changed the world. It is one manifestation of man’s imagination, resourcefulness and inventiveness. The products yielded by science tremendously altered lives and led people to progress.
Science education must start in school from the science teachers themselves leading the learners to understand and acquire to work for their development and enhancement.
