Many students procrastinate because it becomes a habit but pushing off your work until the last possible minute is not good. Most especially if you are a teacher, you should mend your ways. There are some real downsides to procrastination.
Procrastination adds stress. It usually sets you up for more stress. When you procrastinate, you not only have to deal with the initial stress but also the added stress of being under a serious time crunch.
Despite the fact that you may be a very reliable person, if you procrastinate you make yourself appear less responsible. Individuals who procrastinate often give off the impression that the work they are putting off isn’t important to them, something that could be completely false. To avoid this appearance, do your work more promptly.
If you procrastinate doing your school work, you run the risk of setting yourself up for work overload. If you put off too many assignments, you may find that you have a very short amount of time in which to get a very large amount of work done, particularly because many assignments are due at quarter’s end. If, conversely, you do each assignment as it is assigned, you will likely not have as massive a pile of work to tackle at one time.
