Knowledge is Power.
This line, perhaps, is one of the most famous lines that trascends time and is offered to every generation as a subtle reminder of our responsibilities. As the line suggests, knowing and not knowing could spell the difference between having or not having power to change anything.
Thus, we study Science.
Science is a systematized body of Knowledge about anything and everything in this world. Everything we do, everything we see, hear, smell, touch, and feel are all part of a vast concept of Science. There is a need to understand such things because life becomes easier and more manageable when we have knowledge of what we are, what we can make, and what happens around us.
To study Botany is to know the plant life of this planet and its value to mankind and the world. Over the years, we have made use of these findings to formulate herbal medicines and help save lives or treat illnesses.
The study of Oceanography has helped people understand a little of, and develop respect to, the mysteries of our seas and oceans. Ichthyology, the study of fishes, helped marine biologists know the edible species and the poisonous ones.
The study of Zoology helped people be acquainted with our animals, as Science produced our veterinarians who can help take care of them.
Physics helped us get to know the principles of gravity, and how the moon affects the low tide and high tides of the ocean, and how one year is equivalent to Earth’s one whole revolution around the sun.
And if we’re talking about understanding life, Anatomy gave us better comprehension of our body, Chemistry made us aware of how chemicals inside and outside our bodies react to each other. We even took it to the microscopic level, wherein we aimed and succeeded in understanding cells and neutrons and planktons. Then, we have pathology dedicated to the study of illnesses and diseases and what cause them.
These are only a few of a lot more studies which aimed to explain the world.
This is Science.
The inclusion of Science in the Educational Curriculum is one of the most important steps that educational bodies have taken to make the learning process complete. It increased our knowledge and awareness of the world we live in, and thus we were given the chance to take part in the evolution of mankind and the processes of the world.
We were empowered, and we evenly distributed it to everyone by teaching it in schools.
By knowing, we were given the chance to do something.
