Schools of today will shape our society of tomorrow. Our fundamental challenge is to foresee change and shape it in a way that will prepare the succeeding generations of young people for active participation in our community. As teachers, we are accountable of bringing about world – class levels of literacy in our country. A high level of literacy is essential to the vitality of our society.
One of the ways to promote high level of literacy is to develop the writing ability of our learners. Through this medium of communication, one can clearly express his inner thoughts, feelings and understanding. One can present his noble aspirations, implement the needed changes and development through the might of freedom of expression – writing.
A written expression is a manifestation of dynamism among people, particularly those of our learners. Their ardent desire to describe and to criticize undesirable and unscrupulous practices in our society will crystallize their hopes, desires in the future, and noble aspiration in life. More so, learners who are well – equipped with the writing competence will enable to function effectively in society. They can competently meet what is needed in the workplace, in the world of academe and in the international arena.
To begin with, among teachers, let us develop the habit of writing and inculcate among our learners the love of writing not only for self – expression and fulfillment but also as a forceful way to communicate, share and influence others for a change, growth and development.
