As per DepEd Order No. 72, s. 2009 states “Inclusive Education as strategy for Increasing Participation Rate of Children and Education for All as primary goal of Global Education, Mainstreaming Program yearly is imposed. This is to focus on the needs of the SPED pupils to maximize their full potentials and of course to get involved and exposed in a regular classroom setting. To enhance their social skills and have awareness of the world outside their norms, the SPED class.
I noticed as I became a SPED teacher the problem of this yearly program is that receiving teacher seems to look this as an additional burden on their part. But of course I understand their sentiments because I am a former regular class teacher and receiving teacher too. Most SPED pupils assigned to lower sections thus, teacher cannot avoid to complain sometimes saying “it’s hard to handle big group of learners with slow academic performance and additional SPED pupil”. The large population of learners within a class is the major problem by receiving teachers for they will deal with lots of behavior and personality differences. But, still these receiving teacher cooperate and willingly extend their arms to welcome these children with special needs at the end of the day. This is all we asked SPED teacher, to understand that our pupil need your help to develop them holistically , to experience also the world of their same age without disability is enjoying.
