In the ever-evolving landscape of public service, the Municipality of Orion, Bataan, is setting a remarkable example by embracing technological advancements to enhance efficiency, transparency and security in government transactions. Municipal Treasurer Marissa R. Tumalad has taken a bold step towards digital transformation by integrating the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNKI) digital signature into its operations.

The municipality has adopted PNKI’s digital signature system, enabling secure, paperless transactions for both internal and external processes. This initiative aligns with the national government’s drive to modernize public service through digital tools. Municipal Treasurer Tumalad, believes that the adoption of the PNKI digital signature is crucial to achieving these objectives. “Our goal is to ensure that our transactions are not only faster but also secure and verifiable. With the PNKI digital signature, we can now maintain the integrity of every document,” Rodriguez explained.

The PNKI digital signature is a secure cryptographic tool issued by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). It enables government officials to sign digital documents with the same legal validity as a handwritten signature, ensuring the authenticity, confidentiality, and integrity of the information. This technology is particularly valuable in preventing fraud and ensuring that transactions are tamper-proof, all while maintaining the convenience of a fully digital process.
