A teacher is also a mother in the classroom and inside the campus. As a mother you are expected to be a good, better and sometimes perfect. Each teacher is different and so students are. Every student has own learning style, different level of thinking and also different understanding. With 30-40 students in one class, you cannot please all but you can still be a good or even a better teacher by being a good listener and being open to your students. If you can be a friend to your students during their saddest moment, they will treasure you for life.

For some, being a good teacher means you can teach well and how well you teach can be measured by the good grades each of your students get. Being sensitive to the needs and feelings of your students means a lot to them as most often, they can talk to the teacher more than their parents. Walk to your talk. If you are teaching your students to be punctual, then be on time or come before time. And if you are telling them that time is gold, then do not consume their time by talking so much about the things that your students cannot relate with. Instead share them some momentsabout your student’s life which they can apply today or that is relevant to your lesson and can be applied in the future. Make sure to prepare your lessons before coming to classroom. Prepare interesting visual aids – do your own homework as you give homework too to your students. Use variety of materials in teaching, as your students have different level of comprehension and interest. Set rules in the classroom – like at home, classroom should have the rules to follow too. Make sure these rules are can be followed by all. Be firm, no one is excuse and exempted to the rules.

Before starting your lesson, make sure to set and give objectives to your students so they can set their minds what to expect and what to learn during the class and after your lesson. Mind conditioning to students is very important. Be a good example to your students. If you expect them to be good to others, then you should show them how to be one. Students learn more by doing and not just by listening. Most importantly you will be hailed as their best teacher if you believe in them. The “you can do it” phrase is very important to the students. They will do their best because they want to hear the “very good” from you later, because they want to be like you – their best teacher.
