Students from St. Louis University in Baguio City invented a biofuel from the humble gabi.
We all know that gabi, a root crop can thrive in almost any type of soil, and is highly resistant to floods and drought.
Their invention is very timely for what we are suffering now, global warming. Biofuel is a very effective alternative for gasoline.
These young Filipinos had done a commendable job on their invention. By creating an eco-friendly source of energy can lessen the dependency of people on petroleum gas.
Dubbed as “Bio-Gab,” the group’s biofuel invention won them the Business and Idea Development Award 2016 given by by the Philippines Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The young men behind the invention are John Cyril Paco, Keanu Verzosa, Joji Tateoka, John Paul Galong, and Gregory Jones Ochoada. The group received an award October last year and they are now aiming to have their invention be patented.
As a Filipino we must be proud of them by this we can showcase our knowledge and being resourceful.
Kudos to these young scientists.
