Description
The Balik-Paaralan Para sa Out-of-School Adults (BP-OSA) is a nonformal education program for the secondary delivered in 114 public elementary and secondary schools teachers serving as Instructional Managers (IMs). Each instructional manager has a leanring group made up of not less than fifty (50) learners. Entry of learners in the program at any time is allowed as a matter of policy.
The school principals of those schools serving as Principal-Coordinators (PCs) supervise the conduct of the learning sessions. BP-ISA is a school-based delivery mode of ALS A&E program.
Objectives of BP-OSA
- Provide a system for assessing levels of literacy and nonformal learning achievement based on a curriculum covering functional literacy skills and competencies that are designed to be comparable to those of the formal school system.
- Offer an alternative pathway by which out-of-school children, youth and adults earn an educational qualification comparable to that of the formal school system.
- Enable out-of-school children, youth and adults to gain reading, writing and numeracy skills to meet their learning goals as they define them; and
- Strengthen the acquisition of employable and trainable skills in enterpreneruship and livelihood skills.
Target Learners
The learners of the BP-OSA program are out-school children, youth and adults who have not completed basic education.
