Bringing Technology and Home Economics into 21st Century

“Today’s students grow up in technologically- mediated world and their thinking, behavior, and emotions are heavily influenced by new technologies.”(Zhao,2003). Life skills would take a dual meaning if technology became an additional structural support to student learning. They are also learning technological life skills that they will surely need throughout senior high school, college and upon entrance to the work force. Teacher use their best instructional materials that they have, perhaps bringing Technology and Home into 21st century is very challenging. Transforming student learning from the 50’s to 2000’s and beyond is very huge now a days. An example of this, using smartphones, laptops, pictures, OHP. video presentations would facilitate this endeavor as technologies  can be used for media inquiry, construction, communication, and expression.

A document camera and projection would allow students to see demonstrations and examples more clearly as well as showcase student’s works. Using internet access and a web browser, learner can automatically surf into different networks. Using internet access and a web browser, learner can automatically surf into different networks, and do some research study. They facilitate their own learning in a way that it complements the technology age in which they live.

Pragmatically, our 21st century kids education is quickly bifurcating. The formal half, “school” is becoming an increasingly moribund and irrelevant institution. It’s only function for many students is to provide them with a credential that their parents say they need. The informal, exciting half of kids’ education occurs “after school”. This is the place where 21st century students learn about their world and prepare themselves for their world and prepare themselves for their 21st  century lives.

These technologies can support teaching and foster learning on a daily basis. In that way, teachers would come up their own assisted learning kit through the use of new technology that the learner ought to process. This means that the teachers are just implementer of TLE subjects that worksand built on adequate mastery of knowledge and information, skills and processes, acquisition of right work values and life skills. Bringing TLE into 21st century is functional is one that equips students with skills for lifelong learning.
