Establishing of School Learning Resource Center is one of the objectives of the school. Although some of the pupils may feel that browsing is an ancient scholarly right, the practice is in fact no older than the baby-boomer faculty who so often lead the charge to keep the learning materials on campus. Still, each school would like to change this belief and include the “LRC browsing” as one of the activities that should be done in school to encourage the pupils to have a good study and reading habit and to visit the LRC regularly. In this activity, proper scheduling should be done to foster such a study habit and forge the link between pupils with basic literacy skills and the LRC.

        It is necessary for the LRC to reach out to the pupils. It is also necessary to provide material that is easy enough to be enjoyable so that children would want to read and write. If we give pupils what they want, rather than what we think they should have, they will start studying. Then the literacy skills will grow and yield fruit rather than wasting away for lack of use.

        Therefore, it is important to encourage the study habit so that the pupils will grow mentally and fulfil their potential at every level. Such growth is every person’s right and will benefit the country economically as well as benefitting the individual personally.

        Finally and most important of all it is necessary to spread the word, to create a general awareness of the importance of learning to the mental growth of the individual and to the economic growth of the nation.
