Computer-based Instruction
Alternative Learning System programs are being delivered in various modes such as face-to-face group learning, family or household approach, individual tutorials, radio-based learning and even independent learning.
The computer-based delivery of the ALS A&E program is called eSkwela.
The Local Government Units and other non-government organizations play very significant roles in the setting-up of the eSkwela in terms of counterpart funds, advocacy, sustainably measures and others.
The computer-based learning modality takes and advantage of the use of mixed media software, ICT-enhanced environment, interactivity and flexibility, among others. In eSkwela, A&E learning modules, converted into digital format, are being used by the learners. A module guide is used by the learning facilitator. The digitized modules are stored in CDs and local servers of the eSkwela centers. All core modules of the A&E Program (283) are in digitized form.
Functional eSkwela sites are set-up in the following places:
- Quezon City
– Roces National HS
– Loyola Heights

– Sta. Elena Barangay Hall
- San Jose del Monte City
– 2/F Muzon Public Market

There are however eLearning centers that are set up in different within the divisions. The eLearning centers are centers that are not yet up to the standard of the eSkwela in terms of the number of computers and other basic components of eSkwela.
The Alternative Learning System addresses the basic learning needs of marginalized groups such as school-age children and youth who are out-of-school as well as adults who have never gone to school at all or who have dropped out of school.
