K-12 introduced the spiral curriculum to be practiced among public schools as of today. This led to the old way spoon-feeding teaching (old school) approach, but the thing is, is it effective as the same a as what we are used to?

K-12 focuses more on the spiral type of curriculum, leading learners to discover themselves of what they should learn and making the teachers to facilitate and be the one who assists the students in tons of activities to accomplish a day.

Indeed the first phase of change had the deepest struggle of all. The first year of applying the said curriculum was challenging for both the teachers and the students. The author was already a Field Study observer when the implemented curriculum was applied. Teachers as well as students were really in a fuss adapting to this change. Books distributed have some errors and most activities were complicated for students. In the student’s side, comparing the BEC books from the K-12’s was indeed a huge difference. So there really was a time that both student and teacher experienced anxiety in the fast changing phase only to satisfy what the government believes to improve education in the country and to cope for neighbouring countries whom practiced 12 years of basic education early decades ago.

As of today, all we are waiting for are the first batch whom undergone K-12, and the effect is still a question until the said batch proves to the world that they are competitive and knowledgeable in the field of work compared to the bachelor’s whom were moulded based on old school curriculum.
