A science teacherexactly possesses distinguishing characteristics that make him/her highly effective. To wit:

First and foremost, he/she exhibits a profound understanding of the science core content in the grade or course assigned to, and has a distinctivecapability to deliver this content to thelearners. A highly effective science teacher precisely has an adequate knowledge to be conveyed to the students most especially in his/her line of specialization which is science.

Secondly, he/she keeps abreast or updated with the current developments in the field of science.  The modern occurrences, developments and advancements in science should be acquired steadfastly in order to bestow the best quality education to the students.  There are many latest inventions and ingenuities in science that must be learned and a highly effective science teacher can make things possible.

Thirdly, he/she demonstrates aptitude in the use of measurement anddata collection tools and techniques to gather, manage, analyze, and interpret data.  Moreover, the skill of a highly effective science teacher includesknowledgeon computer-based measurement devices, modeling tools and instructional supports to enhance student learning opportunities in the field of science.

Fourth, he/she uses and promotes the understanding of appropriatescientific vocabulary. Furthermore he/she expands appropriate scientific vocabulary in various instances and undertakings.

Fifth he/she provides essential supports for students in science who are

learning English or have limited English proficiency.  This is true because most of the notions, concepts or data in science are expressed or written in the English language.

Sixth, he/she musthave anaccess of a rich repertoire of instructionalpractices/strategies and applies them appropriately to the particular needs of his/her students aligned with the cognitive demand of the science content (pedagogical content knowledge).

Seventh, he/she instructs students to connect science ideas in different content strands, (Physical,Life and Earth/space), and in different content areas in order to realize the wide range scope of science.

Finally, he/she persuades the students to usescience ideas in realistic problems. In doing such, the students will be able to realize the practicality of science and its very essence in the lives of people and in the world.

Truly, a science teacher must entail such features in order to be considered as highly effective.
