Every now and then thedifferent needs of farmers to increase their production, can be heard over the radio and TV news broadcast. It can also be read in the newspaper. In the Philippines, the agriculture sector continues to be a substantial hope for the gradual improvement of the economy. Our farmers continue to strive hard for the enhancement of their agriculture knowledge and increase in their production, be it in rice, fishery, vegetables and  fruits, or animals and rootcrops.

In spite of the hard efforts of our farmers to improve their yields, there are still some factors that hinder their purpose. Some of these hindrances are far location, poor road access,  lack of capital for farming equipment, maintenance, seedlings, fertilizers, and insecticides.  Teachers of Agriculture subject in both private and public secondary schools are in a way a big help in improving agriculture condition in our country through agriculture education being imparted to our students through his or her well-prepared lesson plans. It is a must that an agriculture teacher must be as effective as other subject teachers. Teachers of this subject must use strategies in teaching such as a mixtures of traditional, inquiry-based or activity-based approach in teaching so that students will love agriculture as they learn it.

Upon the acquisition of these agricultural knowledge, students who have parents who are farmers may impart these to them. Other students who are not children of farmers may participate in spreading what they have learned by visiting some farmers and impart their agricultural knowledge with them.Teachers may consider this as one of their best practices which can be benchmarked by others. This simple but significant way might help the farmers to improve their yields.

Agriculture teachers, whether of fisheries, animal care or vegetable and fruit and other plants must continue to strive hard to improve their craft through seminars and further trainings.Like other teachers they should follow rules. They should continue in encouraging and engaging agriculture students by being a role model inside and outside the agriculture classroom.
