Classroom is training ground in many aspects of life of every learner. It is in the classroom where they first behave in a society. Classroom behavior development is very important in molding students into a better man in the future. Disciplining them inside the classroom is very important so they know how to behave properly. Teachers may deal with students with a lot of personal problems such as they came from a broken family, a family member, usually step father, molesting them, victim of rape, involvement in drugs and lack of attention from their parents leading the misbehavior inside the classroom.
Classroom management is the best way to avoid discipline problem. A teacher must know how to respond the misbehavior of the students by applying the general principles of responding to misbehavior of the students (Savage and Savage 2010). He or she must maintain the dignity of every learner when with dealing students that need to be corrected, it should be done in private like asking the learner to meet after class. However, if you feel a need for immediate action, the teacher can have conference during class and ask student to talk outside the classroom. When students have conflicts with each other, arrange the schedule to meet them during their vacant time and be neutral for both parties to resolve problem peacefully. Teacher must respond all incidents of misbehavior and maintain credibility at all times. In order to understand the misconduct of the student, teacher must find the causes of misbehavior by simply asking the student. If this does not work, teacher must call the attention of the parent/guardian and discuss it privately.
Learning would be possible when the teacher establishes an environment where students feel safe and secure not only in physical aspects but also in social, cultural and psychological aspect. Manager of the class must inspire the learners by showing beliefs in their abilities and giving support to meet their academic demands. Giving encouragement is greatly appreciated by students who encounter hardships and struggles in achieving their learning goals. Helping the students to figure out who they are and how they can be of service to their community. Spending time and having conversation with the students each day build strong relationship and can result a positive attitude for students learning.
Classroom structure is another factor that affects learning process. Providing good structure motivate the students to listen and actively participate in everyday interaction. It is important to consider the teaching and learning environment in designing better activities for the students and help
them to engage and interact for better learning.
