Climate Change is real, and it is here!
Why do we have WATER on dry season…… and…..HEAT on rainy season? What can we do to address climate change?
Being a science teacher, I suggest having an ABC on addressing the climate change on our country…… First, we must act now…….doing precautionary measures lessen up the variables that continuously add up on the destruction of our mother Earth. Nextbuy energy-efficient appliances. Makeinformed choices. In doing so we cannot just cutour electric bill but will also lessen the heat that is emitted by our choice of appliances on our surrounding. Then calculate your personal carbon footprint and cut your greenhouse gas emissions. An example of these is, if you are going to a nearby market try not to ride on a vehicle instead just walk, aside from saving money you can have an exercise that your heart will be benefited. We can have a debate, discuss and distribute leaflets, brochures and posters regarding climate change and environmental issues. These will open their minds and be aware in taking care of the environment.Enjoy the sun, sometimes go out and play under the sun valuing everything that God created for us make sense.Fridge doors, don’t let the door of your refrigeratoropen not longer than what is necessary. Awareness is valuable tool for us.
Go green, plant trees. It will provide us oxygen, the air that we need for breathing. Divide into half your emissions by adjusting your airconditioner thermostat. Find ajustified level of your air-condition.Also involve your family, friends, children and neighborsin addressing change in our climate. We can even join environmental group. Kick start an environmental campaign in your neighborhoodby replacing your incandescent lamps to compact fluorescent lamps (CFL’s).
Minimizing the use of high- energy consuming appliances and equipments like air-conditioning your room, lessen it up, once you feel that your room is cold already keep it in a fan mode instead. Off! Turn it off your television, computers, videos, even stereos when not in use or better unplug it all. Planting, caring and growing more trees. Quit excessive use of plastic bags, you carry your own bag when doing or going shopping. Recycle, repair and reuse materials.
Save papers! Being a teacher, I print on both side of the bond paper that I use in my lesson. Saving papers means saving more trees that should be cut whenever the factories made some paper for us.Travel smart, reduce air travel. If we can use other means of transportation please do so because using air travel emits more heat on our horizon.Use less energy, and conserve more of it specially water. Use glass in brushing your teeth, refrain from using shower in taking bath, it is but friendly to our environment if we conserve water. Value wastes! Segregate wastes in our home. Do not dump your garbage’s everywhere. Write letters about the health impacts of climate change to the local newspaper in your town. Express your concern on environmental health issues and solutions and stay informed.
Let us lead environment- friendly lifestyles for a safer climate!
