Being innovative is the demand of the present society most especially in the field of education. To become innovative, teachers should consider the following ideas:
Innovative teachers must offer choice.
A teacher figures out new ways to inspire and motivate the pupils. Choice gives pupils the ability to go above and beyond the curricular limitation that is to try to give as much choice as possible and watch your pupils innovate.
Innovative teaching works for improvement.
This one should be said as “provide growth opportunities”. We learn best after failing. It means that we learn from mistakes. Do not laugh at a pupil’s mistakes instead lead him/her to arrive at the correct answer or improvement.
Mentorship comes in all forms.
You have to search the library, ask the best persons or find some type of adults of expert who had knowledge and ask for guidance. Experts can provide comprehensive information and ample ideas that will help you in teaching.
Technology goes with a purpose.
Pupils could then get to their presentation material quicker, and allow for some deeper tasks by means of technology. You must use technology with a purpose. Encourage the pupils to utilize the tool or technology properly in achieving job or assignment/ project.
Build something together.
Make the learners realize that aside from doing things independently, teamwork is also promoted in school. Pupils collaborate together to build something that matters to all of them and to the community from local to global. Interacting for a common goal can yield a better result.
Standards are guidelines.
Use standards code for various lessons and projects that promote design thinking and innovative learning experiences for the learners. In this way, the accessibility of the matters would be easier once needed.
Be a learner first and model it
The teacher should be books ahead of the learners. He/she should relearn first the various things he/she gained in the past and learn new things that would be beneficial to the learners.
Flexible with high expectations
. Have high expectations for your pupils and they will rise to meet a challenge, but also to have the flexibility to go with what is working and change paths if need be. Keep an open mind about what is possible, and anything really can happen in the future.
A challenge that is fun.
It should have moments of pure fun and enjoyment. Teaching should be challenging but should be enjoyed and be filled with fun.
