Motivation- is an inner state that causes an individual to behave in a way that ensures the accomplishments of some goals. Principal motivates the teachers to be an effective facilitator of learning in order to achieve quality learning as one of the goals of DepEd. There are 4 kinds of motivational drives that an administrator must understand so that she can apply these in motivating her teachers or employees.

  1. MOTIVATION FOR AFFILIATION – the drive to relate to people on a social basis. Affiliation motivated people work better if they are being praise or complimented for their favourable attitude and cooperation. Knowing this motivational drives principal or manager must recognized contributions of an employee by praising or giving good comments for a job well done or give certificates of recognition.
  1. MOTIVATION FOR POWER – the drive to influence people and change situations. Once the power is acquired by a person it may be used either constructive or destructively, or may create an impact in the organization and willing to take a risk to do so. Principal or manager must have the ability to influence people by a talking them with honesty and sincerity, role model of desirable values and behaviour. A leader of good qualities and behaviour can easily persuade and influence people in the organization because she has already got their trust and confidence with the qualities and attitudes she has showed them.
  1. MOTIVATION FOR COMPETENCE – the drive to win in every competition that will give him/ her happiness and satisfaction. This will drive a person to seek job mastery, perform well by giving his best in order to win.
  2. MOTIVATION FOR ACHIEVEMENT – drive to pursue and attain goals, to achieve objectives and advance up to the ladder of success. Knowing this kind of motivation principal needs to encourage teachers to enrol in Masters  Degree , attend trainings and seminars , to get higher score in every basis of performance rating to be outstanding , received an award for a meritorious contributions in the community because all these things can be used to qualify in the ranking for promotions.
  3. MOTIVATION FOR RECOGNITION – drive to become famous and be recognized by anyone. Even a simple person is aspiring to be famous because of the deeds he has accomplished.
  4. MOTIVATION FOR REWARD – drive to receive an award in any competition that needs to prove yourself worthy to be number one in order to get an award. Usually awards are given up to three person considered as best in the contest category. If a person goal is to be number one to be the first to receive an award he will give his best to be the winner.
