Going beyond expectations is the new trend in teaching.  In the Philippines, the curriculum demands much idyllic methods in educating the learners of the new generation. So, it is about time for us to describe the characteristics of an effective teaching pedagogy or method to guide our dear teachers. To wit:

Relevant.  The kind of teaching method that you must apply in teaching should be relevant to the learner and to the subject.  The method should be applicable to the skill or competency to be taught and it is suitable to the students.

Updated.  The method or pedagogy you must adapt should be contemporary which means that it is the latest thing to do for it follows the new trend in the educative process.  Teacher needs to embrace what are given at present.

Accessible.  The method to be utilized in teaching should be available in reachable resources.  It can be found in books, modules or even in the internet in order to make it easy for the teacher to acquire.

Specific. The pedagogy to be used should be specific.  It means that this should have concrete procedure with steps to be followed. It is also composed of activities to attain the objectives of the lesson.

Measurable. In school, we need to measure the learning of the students after teaching and this can be realized if we have the right method in education.

Attainable.  The method to be employed in teaching should be able to attain the objectives of the competency being imparted.

Goal-oriented.  Apparently, every lesson has a goal and this could be achieved by the appropriate pedagogy in teaching.

Time-bound. The time element is very important in teaching and this implies that the method should completely cover the time of instruction.

These are the characteristics which comprise effective teaching pedagogy in the field of education.
