Family Day is an important annual event held in school. It aims to improve communication throughout the entire school community by bringing students, parents and staff together in an informal setting. Based on the model of Japanese school sports festival, the emphasis of Family Day is not on competition, but on community interaction through participation in sporting games and enjoyable physical activities in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

Family day has been promoted by the local government and other organizations because it provides hope in the community where families are the core and fundamental pillars of society. Family day can be successfully done if all parents, pupils and teachers will work together. This celebration can be started with a mini program and it will become meaningful if several activities with the participation of the parents and the students are provided. The integration of “Laro ng Lahi” games to families can also provide colorful meaning to the occasion.

The cooperation of parents, young students and teachers can live up success with this kind of celebration. The school head should continually  encourage the stakeholders to join with this kind of school activity for the creation of a strong and healthy relationship among each other.
