Garment Technology – one of the most productive and pursued major in Bataan School of Fisheries. It’s goal is to teach the aspirants to learn the aspects in creating an innovative dress which include the different competencies such as preparing materials/fabrics, drafting, sewing and applying finishing touches. Each competency is elaborated step by step which enhances more of the student’s ability and had caused an appeal to their interest. A hand on instructor leads the student’s to gain more literacy in designing a dress, acquired with National Certificate in Dressmaking and Tailoring and Trainors Methodology. The students were able to showcase their proficiency in sewing through joining competitions and gaining the title for school’s glory and pride.

            Knowledge without application is nothing that’s why Bataan School of Fisheries provided a specialized room often called BSF Workshop where they can utilize their competence in needlecraft using various kinds of sewing machine and equipment. The students start practicing the course in Grade 9 level up to Grade 11. On the job training was being implied duringGrade 12 in partnership with different garment manufacturing companies in Bataan. The students elevate more of their expertise in sewing and great opportunities await them. This is one of the main goals of the garment technology, “students learn while earning”. Instructor also administered Income Generating Project so as to provide student who are not capable of providing needs for their school projects. A student-school partnership that has been proven equitable and adequate on both sides.

            The school has also the privilege in having partnership with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), acknowledging the school as an accredited TESDA Assessment Center, in which various assessments were conducted from previous years up to present. The school and the municipal government also tied up in lending assistance to out of school youth and even mothers to procure free education in sewing through Bottoms-Up Budgeting, a program of Department of Budget and Management. This agenda backs up populace to have their own livelihood earnings while at home.

            An easy access to facilities, innumerable job opportunities and an open-accessible school that will usher the students in obtaining quality education, heading Garment Technology as the most prevalent and in demand course at the present time.
