Giving special program for children in enhancing their literacy level is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country. Every year, commemorative events are held nationwide at schools, libraries, bookstores, homes — wherever young readers and books connect!

        In relation to this, every school should conduct a Gift a Child a Book Program to inspire the pupils to read books or any reading materials not only during class hours but also during free time at home. The objective of such program is to encourage young readers to enjoy reading books and for the improvement of their reading ability. Accordingly, reading a good book can change the children’s day and will have positive effects on their mindset and way of thinking. As they read a book, their creativity increases.

        Hence, reading is one of the best hobbies that should pursue as it improves language skills and opens up a world of knowledge and children should do it on a regular basis. Every individual needs a reading habit in order to mentally grow and fulfil their potential. 

        The program can be very memorable to all children because it can cultivate their reading habit and to realize with them that reading is highly enjoyable.

        It is necessary most of all to give books to the pupils, to give plenty of books which are both easy and interesting and to provide these in a manner that is culturally acceptable. Once children get the reading habit, they will pass it on, the demand for books will grow and the children will start to achieve as they should.
